Mona Chitnis is a Research Assistant in the ESRC funded multidisciplinary Research Group on Lifestyles, Values and Environment (RESOLVE) associated with the Centre for Environmental Strategy (CES) in the School of Engineering and the Surrey Energy Economics Centre (SEEC) in the Department of Economics in the School of Human Sciences.   She will apply econometric techniques to model and estimate future consumer demand and carbon emissions.

Before joining RESOLVE, Mona worked for almost ten years in the Management and Planning Organization of the Iranian Government as an Expert in Economics and State Planning. She also taught at Alzahra University in Iran after completing her Ph.D.

Mona did her BA, MA and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Tehran in Iran. She obtained a British Council and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran partial scholarship to complete her Ph.D. research at SEEC and completed her PhD in 2005 entitled "The Effect of Gasoline Pricing Policy on Social Welfare in Iran".
